Course Overview
This exciting one-day workshop combines the teachings of venepuncture and cannulation in one course. This workshop is aimed at staff who are already familiar with both skills and can learn at a rapid pace, as the combined day has less time to practise than in the singular courses. In the morning session, participants will benefit from learning the theory behind their new skills, consisting of teaching on:
- Anatomy & physiology
- Consent
- Local policy & procedure
- Infection Control & Hazards
- Equipment
- Documentation
In the afternoon practical workshop, participants will benefit from being able to consolidate their knowledge and gain experience practicing on our simulation mannequin arms, in a safe, controlled environment under the supervision and guidance of our skilled DREEAM course facilitator.
Who will benefit:
The course is for nursing, medical and allied health professionals that already have knowledge and experience with both skills.
Venue:
DREEAM Department, A Floor West Block, QMC Campus, Derby Road, Nottingham, NG7 2UH
Start and finish times:
Registration at 08:00 | Start time at 08:30 | Finish time at 16:00

IMPORTANT: On completion of this workshop you will be required to have your competency assessed before independent practice. You MUST have access to a clinical area prior to attending this workshop. Please ensure your clinical area can support this process before booking, as DREEAM are unable to facilitate this, thank you.
Please be aware after this course you will be required to complete a BBraun online e-learning module, access instructions will be given on the day and ten supervised cannulations before clinical sign off, within your own clinical setting.
Please ensure that your line manager and a clinical area can support your competency sign off before attending the course, as this can not be supported by DREEAM.
